The choral program at Barrington High School is one that values excellence in the performance of quality choral repertoire, development of musicianship and music literacy, and the social-emotional wellbeing of all students.
The multi-faceted music programs at Barrington High School include concert, jazz and marching bands, the gamut of large choirs and small ensembles, symphony orchestra, and string orchestra. Combined they perform well over 150 school, community and off-campus performances and competitions each year. In addition, course offerings include Blues and Beyond, AP Music Theory, Music Appreciation, and Electronic Music Composition. All disciplines participate in the Illinois Music Educators Association (IMEA) District 7 and All-State activities, solo and ensemble competition and off - campus in-state and out-of-state tours. Recent choral tour destinations include Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL, New York City, NY, California, London, England, and Washington, DC. The choral department includes opportunities for students to engage in a variety of curricular and co-curricular opportunities. The curricular program involves five separate performing ensembles, featuring both treble, bass, and mixed ensembles. Students also have opportunities to engage with the freshman Spotlight production, musical, madrigal program, or four a cappella groups. |
